Serge Devant Launches "This Moment" Label with Cinematic Trilogy Vision

NYC-based house music legend Serge Devant is making history in the music industry with the launch of his own label "This Moment" and its debut single "Solace" featuring Camille Safiya, set for release on August 7. What makes this launch extraordinary isn't just the music—which includes a remix package from Seth Troxler and Nick Morgan—but the unprecedented cinematic narrative that connects it to Devant's past work. "Solace" serves as a continuation of the story from his single "Fearing Love" released a decade ago, featuring the same vocalist Camille Safiya and the exact same actors Eric Michael Cole and Christine Donlon, creating what appears to be the first-ever decade-spanning music video trilogy in electronic music history.
The visual component of "Solace" elevates the project to cinematic heights, shot by Tobias Deml, who serves as Director of Photography for legendary filmmaker Luc Besson (known for "The Fifth Element" and "The Professional"). Deml has since become an established filmmaker himself, directing HBO documentaries and shooting Besson's latest films, bringing a level of visual storytelling rarely seen in electronic music. "This has been in motion for a while now. I've been quietly building something - a platform, a label, a brand. Not to chase a trend but to give music the space it deserves," Devant explains. "This isn't a label for hype. It's a label for time, for quality, for storytelling - through music and film."
The concept stems from Devant's deep appreciation for the golden age of music videos and his desire to revive substantial visual storytelling in electronic music. "I grew up on MTV and VH1, watching music videos that had weight and substance. These days that feels like a lost art. Building a world around music visually isn't as common in the industry anymore - and wanting to change that," he reflects. When "Fearing Love" won a film festival over a decade ago, it sparked something profound in Devant, igniting his passion for the complete creative process from casting to editing. The decision to continue the story with "Solace" came naturally when he reached out to the original actors ten years later and they enthusiastically agreed to participate.
The ambitious project doesn't end with "Solace"—Devant has confirmed that the label's next single will continue the narrative, completing an unprecedented trilogy that spans over a decade. "With 'Solace,' I wanted to continue the story. I reached out to the same actors from 'Fearing Love' - ten years later - and they were all in. That was the sign to keep going," he says. This approach represents Devant's vision for "This Moment" as more than just a record label, but as a platform dedicated to creating meaningful connections between music and visual art, bringing back the intentional, substantial music video experience that once defined the industry.
