jigitz Captures Lightning in a Bottle with Montana-Made EP

Electronic music producer jigitz is preparing to release his highly anticipated 8-track EP on July 25, following an unconventional creative process that took him from the streets of New York City to the dusty plains of Montana. The Albuquerque-born, NYC-based artist has become a viral phenomenon since restarting his career in 2023 after a five-year hiatus, blending breakbeat, house, future garage, and ambient sounds into a distinctly American electronic narrative that defies easy categorization.

The upcoming EP was crafted in an unusual recording environment that perfectly encapsulates jigitz's maverick approach to music-making. "I quit my job and went straight to Montana with my manager - who's also my best friend - and Aire Atlantica, somewhere none of us had ever been," jigitz explains. "We hit Best Buy, grabbed the biggest speakers we could find, then returned them after we finished the EP. Everything about emigrant Montana felt cowboy-coded: the rented F-150, the borrowed boots, dusty bar TVs flickering rodeos in the background while we made dance music." This creative retreat marked the first time jigitz collaborated with another producer, with Aire Atlantica becoming what he describes as "part of the jigitz band for a moment."

The artist's rise to prominence has been meteoric since his 2023 comeback, anchored by the viral success of "tell you straight" from February 2025, which has amassed over 25 million streams and spawned remixes from notable artists including Ely Oaks, Inji, Badger, Killen., and Louis The Child. The track spent multiple weeks on the Billboard Dance Chart and recently re-entered Billboard's Hot Dance/Electronic chart, cementing jigitz's position in the electronic music landscape. His distinctive live performances, featuring boiler room-style sets and frequent collaborations with Rockette Paige Litle, have become viral sensations on TikTok and helped establish his unique artistic identity that seamlessly blends high-energy electronic music with unexpected theatrical elements.

With his EP drawing inspiration from '90s country music—including a track titled "All My Exes Live in Brooklyn" that riffs on the George Strait classic—jigitz continues to push boundaries and defy genre conventions. "My manager cooked for us, played A&R, and got quietly sad when the Knicks lost," he recalls of the Montana sessions, capturing the intimate, collaborative spirit that defines his work. As he prepares for a massive tour spanning major venues from Lollapalooza to Webster Hall, jigitz represents a new generation of electronic artists unafraid to blend seemingly disparate influences into something entirely their own.
